March Sees 12.1 Percent New Car Sales Surge Amid Market Adjustments

In March 2024, new car sales are poised to make a big leap. Analysts forecast 1,525,700 units sold, a 12.1 percent increase from the previous year, according to the latest joint forecast from J.D. Power and GlobalData. This surge in sales is matched by an equally strong seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR) of 16.4 million units.

Nissan Motor Plans to Sell More Than a Dozen New EV Models by 2026

Nissan plans to start selling more than a dozen new electric-vehicle models, aiming to boost total car sales by 1 million units within three years. The Japanese automaker said Monday that it intends to start selling 30 new models, including 16 electrified models, and targets an additional 1 million vehicle sales by the year beginning April 2026.

EPA Finalizes Tailpipe Emissions Rule

On Wednesday the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its final Multi-Pollutant Emissions Standards for Model Years 2027 and Later emissions regulation, which will effectively require as much as 56 percent of new cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. to be all-electric by 2032, with hybrids accounting for an additional 16 percent of sales.
