VW Set to Plug in a New Name: "Voltswagen"

Volkswagen will spend more than $80 billion to bring at least 50 battery-electric vehicles to market by mid-decade, and it wants to make sure buyers know the new direction it is taking by using the name “Voltswagen” for its all-electric models.

A fourth-quarter surge in the number of U.S. dealerships sold led to one dealer buy-sell adviser declaring 2020 a record year for transactions. And several experts expect the accelerated pace of stores changing hands will continue in 2021, reports Automotive News.

Smail Auto Group in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, is supporting causes in its community through several initiatives including the Smail 500 – a friendly competition between its stores to collect nonperishable food items. In 2020, the Smail 500 collected almost 9,000 pounds of food. The group also holds an annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, which raised over $35,524 last October for a total of $577,319 donated by the dealership group.

Tariff Reform Coalition Relaunches, Makes Recommendations

A coalition of 37 groups, including AIADA, known as the Tariff Reform Coalition relaunched earlier this week for the new Congress and new administration. The group, originally formed in 2019 in response to the need for greater congressional oversight regarding presidential tariff actions, provided several policy recommendations for the Biden Administration, including the removal of Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum. The coalition represents other auto industry partners, including Autos Drive America, the American Automotive Policy Council and the Auto Care Association, among others. The group is also comprised of representatives of the agriculture, retail and manufacturing sectors.
