FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Alexandria, VA (January 29, 2020) – Cody Lusk, President and CEO of the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA), and California Toyota dealer and AIADA Chairman Howard Hakes attended today’s White House signing ceremony for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Free Trade Agreement’s implementing bill.

“Today marks the end of a long period of uncertainty over North American trade and launches a new era of cooperation between the United States, Canada, and Mexico,” said Lusk. “We look forward to working with all parties to ensure that that agreement is implemented in a manner that allows the global auto industry to continue to grow and employ millions of Americans in the United States."

“As a dealer, I’m relieved to see this agreement signed,” said Hakes. “Trade is crucial to the international auto retail industry, which employs 578,000 Americans at 9,500 franchises and is vital to the American economy. Today’s bill signing is good news for small businesses and the communities they support.”
