Alexandria, VA (August 5, 2020) – Cody Lusk, President  & CEO of the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA),  today released the following statement responding to the White House’s announcement that a majority of automakers have pledged to ensure 40 to 50 percent of all vehicles sold in the United States by 2030 are electric.

“AIADA’s 9,400 international nameplate franchises are committed to an electric future and will play an essential role in turning today’s announcement into reality. We look forward to working with all stakeholders on supplying customers with the vehicles, incentives, and necessary infrastructure that will be required to meet this target. Dealers urge President Biden and all lawmakers to stay focused on their objective, and allow the industry to work as one in meeting it.  Any policies that divide us, or prioritize some American auto workers above others – for example, offering additional tax credits for union-built electric vehicles – politicize what should be a shared mission and make meeting the target announced today that much more difficult.”
