Alexandria, Va. – American International Automobile Dealers Association President & CEO Cody Lusk today released the following statement in response to President Trump’s signing of legislation blocking California’s effort to phase out gas-powered vehicles over the next decade.
“With his signature today, President Trump has defended the right of all Americans to choose the vehicle that works for their commute, climate, and budget. California’s mandate was impractical and would have forced a one-size-fits-all electric vehicle mandate on a country that hasn’t asked for it, doesn’t have the infrastructure to support it, and isn’t prepared to pay for it. Americans don’t need an unelected state agency telling them what kind of car to buy.”
